Hallmaster Shortlisted as SaaS (Software as a Service) Company of the Year
We’re excited to share that Hallmaster has been shortlisted for Saas Company of the Year at the UK Business Tech Awards!
For us, this nomination is a chance to reflect on how far Hallmaster has come, from a solution built to solve the booking challenges of a family business to software that now supports more than 3,500 organisations around the world.
It’s also a chance for us at Hallmaster to thank you, our customers. Without you, Hallmaster would not be what it has become today. The relationships we’ve built with you all have helped shape the software into something made to serve you and your communities – and we couldn’t be prouder of this work!
From small beginnings…
Not many people know this, but Hallmaster began when our founder, Bernard Hammick, needed a better way to manage bookings at a small, family-run holiday park.
But it quickly became clear that the same administrative issues faced by the holiday park were always being faced by community venues. Issues such as countless hours lost to managing bookings, chasing payments, and keeping track of multiple rooms, facilities, and resources.
This was the foundation Hallmaster was built upon, and since the software launched officially in 2010, Hallmaster has continued to steadily grow, supporting more venues of all types, from village halls and community centres, to schools, podcasting studios, and sports facilities.
A year of exciting progress
This nomination also reflects a particularly busy year for Hallmaster.
We’ve continued to invest in the platform, introducing improvements across reporting, automation, scheduling and the overall user experience, alongside ongoing enhancements to security, privacy and GDPR compliance.
One area of particular focus has been helping venues better understand how they’re performing. Improved reporting now gives customers clearer insights into bookings, occupancy, invoicing, revenue and resource usage, helping them make more informed decisions about how they run their venues.
We’ve also expanded automation through features such as Book and Pay, making it quicker and easier for hirers to book while reducing repetitive administrative work for venue managers.
Over the past year alone, we’ve welcomed more than 280 new organisations to Hallmaster while continuing to maintain over 99.9% uptime, ensuring customers can rely on the system every day.
Always customer-focused
Despite this steady growth, we have always kept our community-oriented, customer-focused attitude at the forefront of our minds, and made it the perspective that guides everything we do.
We know that it’s the venue administrators and the all-important volunteers that really know what it’s like to keep a busy community venue running. Because of this, we understand that time and resources are at a premium. This has always guided our thinking when it comes to the design of Hallmaster – and always will.
This is also why we’ve made it our priority to maintain outstanding customer support, from our brilliant, UK-based team. We know that having that human connection is important to our customers, and this is something we are committed to continuing.
Reflecting on the past and the future
Reflecting on the nomination, Hallmaster’s Managing Director, Bernard Hammick, said:
“When we first developed Hallmaster, we weren’t trying to build an award-winning software company, but more that we were simply solving a problem. This nomination is a reminder that the best technology starts not with code, but with understanding people. We’re proud that what began as a solution for one family business now helps thousands of organisations operate more efficiently and sustainably. Their success continues to inspire everything we do, and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.“
While we’re honoured to be shortlisted alongside some of the UK’s leading technology companies, we’re equally proud of what this recognition represents.
It symbolises the trust our customers have placed in us over the years, the dedication of our team, and the shared goal of helping organisations spend less time on administration and more time focusing on the people and communities they serve.
Whatever happens on awards night, we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey so far, and we’re excited to see what comes next.
