At Hallmaster we believe that village halls and venues are at the heart of the community, bringing people together through events, workshops, classes and more. They provide a rich environment that serve every generation.
Each month we’re highlighting venues around the country that epitomise this philosophy through their hard work and community spirit.
Havelock Community Centre
Havelock Community Centre is based in Southsea, just a short distance from Portsmouth on the South Coast of England.
Founded by local residents in 1985, the Centre was officially opened in 1988 by the Princess Royal. The venue serves the local Southsea area, providing social activities for its community.
Due to popularity with their Garden Room, Havelock Community Centre was then later refurbished to continue offering the best hireable spaces to its community.
Local businesses, individuals, and companies such as Tesco and Morrison’s, support the Centre by providing their time and expertise, along with grants, materials, hygiene products, and play sessions for children.
Havelock Community Centre is also a local drop-off location for Great Western Railway’s Bra Bank collection service. Donations like these help the community thrive, by providing valuable resources for those in need, along with maintaining the upkeep of this important space.
Wonderful System - (we) used to manage all our bookings. The Help Centre have been great particularly the one-to-one training offered and all quick to reply to our questions.
Havelock Community Centre offers an array of classes, workshops, and activities for their community.
From health, fitness, and wellbeing classes, to opportunities for education, socialising, emotional and practical support; Havelock Community Centre provides their community with the resources to connect and create with one another.
The Centre offers 4x rooms in total:
The Bennett Hall
A spacious, bright and versatile hall ideal for dance classes, sports sessions, community events, and children’s parties (including space for a bouncy castle).
The Garden Room
A pleasant and airy space with direct access to our beautiful garden – perfect for spring and summer gatherings.
The Large Room
The Large room is a bright and practical space, ideal for workshops or group meetings. Can be hired on its own or with the small room.
The Small Room
A cosy, intimate space with access to the kitchen via a serving hatch, perfect for small meetings or groups.
